1. Entries will be taken online via saddlebook.com. All online entries paid by card only, 3% processing fee will be
applied. ABSOLUTELY NO CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED. ATM ONSITE.

2. ONCE ENTERED THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS.

3. AGE: Peewee 4-6, Junior 7-13, Seniors 14-18, as of 1-1-25
COPY OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE OR A NOTARY MUST BE EMAILED TO [email protected] by
August 10 th , 2025. OR A COPY MUST ACCOMPANY THE CONTESTANT AT TIME OF CHECK IN AT
RODEO. NO EXCEPTIONS. FALIURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFCATION.

4. AWARDS- All-Around award to Sr. Boy, Sr. Girl, All-Around Award to Jr Boy and Jr Girl. Reserve All-Around
Awards to Senior, and Jr., Boy and Girl. Buckles to all 1 st . place event winners. Peewee event winners will receive an award.

5. Payback will be 100% of entry fee.
Payoffs based on number of contestants per event. 1-4 contestants’ pays 1 place, 5-9 contestants pays 2 places, etc.

6. All- Around will be decided on money won.

7. TIE BREAKERS- For event buckles a flip of a coin. For All-Around we will count number of 1 st places on down,
until tie is broken.

8. Chute draw will be used.

9. Awards and monies will be given out at the end of the Rodeo. If you cannot be present to receive your award, you may specify someone to do so for you to a board member. All monies not picked up by contestants will be mailed. - NO EXCEPTIONS.

10. Jr. Age Group- Boys and girls will compete against each other in Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Team Roping and Calf Riding but will not compete together in goat tying. Jr. boys and girls will have separate All-Around points.

11. Rough stock – If no qualified ride, the buckle will be awarded to the longest time ride. There must be 6 or more entries. If less than 6 all entry money will be refunded to contestant at the event. Office fee will not be refunded.

12. Contestants may roll up to the next age group. All entries where a contestant is rolling up an age group that entry will not be eligible to count towards all around. For example, a jr boy/girl placing in the sr. Team roping that money will not count towards the junior all around. Contestants will still be allowed to enter both age groups.

RULES & REGULATIONS


 ​1. The Southern Oregon Junior Rodeo Association is ruled/ governed by its judges, flaggers, and directors.

2. Any unnecessary roughness or abuse of livestock will result in disqualification determined by the Junior Rodeo Board and judges.

3. Each contestant will be called 3 times. If not present and ready on the third call disqualification will result in that event.

4. Any abusive language from the contestant or the contestant’s family or friends will result in disqualification, not only in that event but the entire Rodeo.

5. Contestants and volunteers must wear appropriate western attire including western hat/no hat, or helmet, long sleeve button shirt with collar, jeans, and western boots. Contestants must have back number on at all times during the Rodeo.NO CHANGING OF CLOTHES BEHIND THE CHUTES ,HAT RULE- ALL CONTESTANTS MUST BEGIN THEIR COMPETITIVE RUN WITH HAT ON HEAD. INTENTIONALLY LOOSING HAT MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. JUDGES DECISION.

6. In the event a judge’s ruling is contested, this challenge must take place prior to the end of said event and can ONLY be challenged by the contestant, to the arena judge. (VIOLATION OF THIS RULE WILL CAUSE DISQUALIFCATION)

7. IT IS THE CONTESTANT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THE JUDGES AND/OR FLAGGER ARE READY, OR
YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. THIS MEANS FLAG IS IN THE AIR.

8. EVENTS:
A. MUTTON BUSTIN—Contestant will ride from the bucking chute. Longest timed ride wins. Must clear gate.

B. DUMMY ROPING- 6 and under boys and girls.

C. PEE WEE BARRELS- Must be able to ride alone. Clover leaf pattern and rules to govern. 5 second penalty for
knocked down barrel.

D. BREAKAWAY Roping- One Loop. 30 second time limit. Bell Collar catch only. Any other catch will be no
time. Electric eyes will be used in place of rope barrier.

E. GIRLS GOAT TYING- 30 second time limit for all age groups. Rope, leather or nylon goat string may be
used. 10 second penalty if horse comes in contact with goat or rope holding the goat. One Pivot permitted.
Must stay tied for 6 Seconds.

F. JR. BOYS GOAT TYING-30 second time limit. Piggin string must be used. 10 second penalty if horse
comes in contact the goat or rope holding the goat. One Pivot permitted. Must stay tied for 6 Seconds.

G. BARREL RACING- Clover leaf pattern will be used. 5 second penalty for each knocked down barrel. Horse
may not be used twice in same age group. NO CIRCLING ALLOWED. No running through the gate.
Contestant can have another contestant assist, with or without another horse, into gate. One Pivot or Spin
permitted.

H. POLE BENDING- 5 second penalty for each knocked down pole. Horse may not be used twice in same age
group. Must maintain forward motion. No pivot, spin or circling.

I. CHUTE DOGGIN- Will start from bucking chute. You can throw when steers head crosses designated line. 30
second time limit.

J. JUNIOR STEER STOPPING- One loop allowed. Three legal head catches. 30 second time limit. Electric eyes
will be used in place of rope barrier.

K. TIE DOWN ROPING- One Loop. Catch as catch can after rope crosses over animal’s head. 30 second time
limit. Must stay tied for 6 seconds. Electric eyes will be used in place of rope barrier.

L. TEAM ROPING- Three legal head catches. 2 loops. 30 second time limit for Senior and Junior divisions. All
age groups can go twice but must switch ends and/or partners. Contestant’s responsibility to confirm partners
before entering. Juniors must enter with an adult age 18 or over and not entered in the rodeo. Electric eyes will
be used in place of rope barrier.

 SENIOR TEAM ROPING – Extra draw runs are eligible for money and not all-around points. 3 rd
draw runs do not receive all-around points. Extra draw money must be paid in cash or card at the
event date.

 JUNIOR TEAM ROPING – You may draw an adult, if you do not have anyone to head/heal for you.
Adults who have not entered the Rodeo can volunteer with the chute boss.

M. RIBBON ROPING- NO POINTS TO ALL AROUND. 100% ENTRY FEE TO POT. Boy/Girl team. This is a
jackpot event and can enter twice but must switch partners. Western attire includes boots; runners may wear
tennis shoes. Both contestants must be entered in the rodeo. Either member may be roper. No dragging, must
stay facing steer. No buckle. Day money only. Must stay in circle until head rope touches the steer. Only roper
will be eligible for prize money. Money split between roper and runner is to be decided between the team.

N. STEER RIDING – 8 Second qualified ride, must ride with one hand, contestant must provide their own
equipment, mouthpiece, rope and vest are required. Flank will be provided but it is optional. Open to Jr. Boy or
Girl. If no qualified rides, buckle will go to longest ride and prize money will be awarded to stock contractor.
Contestants cannot enter if they enter the jr. Calf riding.

O. JR CALF RIDING – 6 Second qualified ride, must ride with one hand, contestant must provide their own
equipment, mouthpiece, rope and vest are required. Flank is provided but is optional. Open to Jr. Boy or Girl.
If no qualified rides buckle will be awarded to longest ride and prize money will go to stock contractor.
Contestant cannot enter if entering the jr. Steer riding.

P. GOAT UNTIE - rides to tethered goat, dismounts, and pulls ribbon from goat tail. Both hands must go up in
the air, with ribbon. Timer stops with ribbon and hands in air. Time limit of 45 Seconds

Q. SADDLE COW – Contestants must provide saddle, 6 second ride, rider to dismount with saddle in hand, both
rider and hazer must be touching saddle when thrown back into bucking chute. Hazer may NOT touch the cow
during the ride. Touching the cow will result in disqualification. Hazer must be a contestant already entered in
the rodeo. Hazer does not pay entry fee and will not be awarded a buckle or prize money. Any prize money
split between the hazer and rider is to be decided between the team.

R. SR. BULL RIDING – 8 Second qualified ride, must ride with one hand, contestant must provide their own
equipment, mouthpiece, rope, helmet, and vest – are required. Events must have no less than 6 entries. If entry
totals are less than 6 at the time entries close, entry money will be refunded. Office fee is not refunded. If no
qualified rides buckle will go to longest ride and prize money will be awarded to stock contractor.

S. Contestants may roll up to the next age group. In instances where a contestant is rolling up an age group that
entry will not count towards all around. For example, a jr boy/girl placing in the sr. team roping the money will
not count towards the jr all around. Contestants will still be allowed to enter both age groups.
THE DECISIONS OF JUDGES AND/OR ARENA DIRECTOR ARE FINAL.
